| Teaching Experience: | Dr. Horton has had the pleasure of serving in several teaching roles including presenting informal talks in the community as well as formal presentations to medical meetings. He has been a preceptor for medical assistants, nursing students, nurse practitioners, and medical students. He has served as volunteer faculty for several instutions including Tulane, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Alabama at Huntsville, and the University of South Alabama. He also has been involved in full-time academics as the assistant program director of the Rapides Family Practice Program in Alexandria, LA (LSU affiliated) and as a faculty member for the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. |

I am proud to be a family physician, I am proud to have a wonderful wife, five terrific children, and three 'perfect' grandchildren, but I am humbled to have Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Perhaps the biggest challenge I face is trying to live each day to honor Him, and perhaps the greatest disappointment is the knowledge that I fail miserably. I apologize for my many shortcomings. I do not apologize for my faith. It is my hope and desire that through my day-to-day activities as a physician that I can help my patients improve their physical health, but also that they may somehow come to share the joy of Christ. Physical health will ultimately fail regardless of how well we treat illness. Spiritual health is eternal. I have no intention of imposing my beliefs on anyone as part of my medical practice.
